Crypto.com Exchange Review: Is Up to $50 in CRO Worth a 180-Day Lockup?

The Crypto.com Exchange is Crypto.com's order-book platform for active traders, on the web and in its own Exchange app. It is separate from the main Crypto.com App, with its own account, fees and referral codes: this bonus is for the Exchange only. It lists more than 400 markets with limit, stop-loss, OCO and iceberg orders, trading bots, an API and, where permitted, derivatives.

Crypto.com is run by the Foris DAX group, and the company you contract with depends on where you live; the Exchange limits products by country. It publishes a proof-of-reserves check run by an independent third party and lists ISO 27001, ISO 27701 and ISO 22301 certifications, PCI DSS Level 1 compliance and a SOC 2 Type II report. None of that is deposit insurance: crypto held on any exchange carries platform risk.

Crypto.com's referral terms say the programme isn't available in the United Kingdom, Hong Kong or any EEA member state. CRO Lockup, the feature that triggers the bonus, is also closed to citizens and residents of Hong Kong, the US state of New York and Malta. If you live in any of those places, the bonus isn't for you, and a VPN won't change that: your KYC documents show where you live.

Everyone else needs a verified account at the Advanced level, which asks for your name, nationality, date of birth, email, a mobile number for a one-time code, an ID document and a photo. Bonuses only pay once that verification is approved.

Register with a referral code, pass Advanced KYC and make your first CRO lockup on the Exchange. A first lockup of 1,000 to 4,999 CRO earns a bonus worth US$10 in CRO; 5,000 CRO or more earns US$50 in CRO. CRO you receive as a bonus doesn't count towards the amount locked, and only the first lockup sets the tier, so locking 1,000 now and topping up later won't lift you to US$50.

Crypto.com says the bonus is credited immediately once both conditions are met. You can see it under Partnerships, Referral, Referral Rewards, on the Sign Up Bonus tab.

Open the Crypto.com Exchange from this page, choose Sign Up and type z0cm9bf0cl into the Referral Code field before you submit. At about US$0.056 per CRO on 24 October 2026, 1,000 CRO cost about US$56 and the US$10 bonus is about 179 CRO, so you hold 1,179 CRO for a US$56 outlay. You break even in dollars unless CRO falls below about US$0.047, roughly 15% lower, by the time the lock ends. At 5,000 CRO the stake is about US$279 and the US$50 bonus about 896 CRO, which gives the same 15% cushion because the bonus is the same share of the stake.

The cushion is real, but it isn't large next to CRO's moves. A 30% fall over the 180 days would leave the 1,179 CRO worth about US$46, roughly US$10 less than you put in, and you couldn't sell during the lock. Buying the CRO on the Exchange as a taker costs 0.50%, about US$0.28 on US$56, which barely changes the maths.

CRO is the token of the Cronos blockchain, which is closely tied to Crypto.com. Its price fell from about US$0.152 on 26 October 2025 to about US$0.056 on 24 October 2026, a drop of 63%. Treat the bonus as a sweetener on a CRO position, not as dollars.

Supply is part of the risk. In March 2025 Cronos governance approved re-issuing the 70 billion CRO burned in 2021 into a Strategic Reserve wallet that vests monthly over five years, taking total supply back to 100 billion. That reserve is released gradually, so new CRO can reach the market during the same years you hold yours.

Spot fees depend on your 30-day volume. Under US$10,000 a month you pay 0.250% as a maker and 0.500% as a taker; from US$10,000 it is 0.200% and 0.400%, and the rates fall to 0.080% and 0.180% at US$500,000. A 0.5% fee applies to forced liquidations on margin. Deposit and withdrawal fees are listed per coin and network on the Fees and Limits page.

A CRO balance on the Exchange cuts these fees: 3% off maker and taker fees from 1,000 CRO, 5% from 5,000, 8% from 10,000, and zero maker fees with 12% off taker fees from 50,000. So the 1,000 CRO you lock for the bonus also takes a 0.500% taker fee down to 0.485%. Crypto.com updates fee tiers daily at 04:00 UTC and can change them.

CRO Lockup holds your CRO for 180 days, after which an Unlock button appears and you withdraw it in full; you can't take part of it out early. Adding more CRO at any time resets the 180 days for the whole amount, so don't top up a lock you want to end soon.

At the 1,000 and 5,000 CRO tiers the lockup earns 0% APR. Rewards start at 10,000 CRO with 2.0% APR and rise to 9.5% at 5 million CRO, paid daily at 01:00 UTC. Soft Lockup, which keeps CRO withdrawable and still gives the fee discounts, also pays 0% below 10,000 CRO; the referral terms ask for CRO that is locked up, so use CRO Lockup for the bonus.

On 24 October 2026 the Crypto.com Exchange app was rated 4.7 from 696 ratings on the US App Store and 4.1 from about 14,100 reviews on Google Play. That is a small sample, so the complaint themes say more than the average.

The recurring complaints are withdrawals held for compliance checks with slow answers from support, identity verification that fails on the camera step, login loops with email codes, products blocked by country, a learning curve steeper than the main App, and unhappiness about CRO's price and supply changes.

Take it if you live where the programme runs, want an order-book exchange with CRO fee discounts, and would hold 1,000 CRO for six months anyway. The US$10 is a decent return on about US$56, and the same CRO lowers your fees.

Skip it if you live in the UK, Hong Kong, the EEA, New York or Malta, if you'd be buying CRO only for the bonus, or if you might need the money within six months. Going to 5,000 CRO for the US$50 tier puts about US$279 into one token for 180 days; do that only if you already wanted that much CRO.
